Lucknow, Nov 14: Launching a scathing attack on the central government, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said “anger of the people” forced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to slash the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates.
Addressing media Firozabad, the former UP Chief Minister said the revision in the rates of GST on many items was a result of the simmering ire among the people, which the BJP leadership had gauged.
Yadav also predicted that the electoral in Gujarat would showcase the mirror to the BJP in the upcoming state assembly elections and ensure that it was booted out of power after two decades.
He also claimed that the BJP was in for a drubbing in the urban body polls in Uttar Pradesh as well.
“People have decided to punish the BJP for demonetisation and GST,” he said.
The 44-year-old leader also stated that he would pay a visit to Gujarat post Uttar Pradesh municipal polls.
