Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appointed Congress General Secretary for UP East

New Delhi, Jan 23: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday appointed as Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East.

With this after years of speculation, Priyanka finally entered into active politics.

Honourable Congress president has appointed Shrimati Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as AICC General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East. She will be taking charge with effect on first week of February 2019,” the Congress said in an official statement signed by Ashok Gehlot.

Robert Vadra in a Facebook post congratulates wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on being appointed as Congress General Secretary for Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra said that “the responsibility given to Priyanka ji is very important. This will not only have an effect on eastern Uttar Pradesh but also other regions”.

Incidentally, both Amethi and Raebareli are also part of Uttar Pradesh East, of which Priyanka has been given charge as General Secretary.

Apart from Priyanka, Congress President Rahul Gandhi also appointed KC Venugopal as AICC General Secretary (Organisation), Jyotiraditya Scindia as AICC General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh West and Ghulam Nabi Azad as AICC General Secretary for Haryana.
