Presidential election on July 17, Counting on July 20

New Delhi, June 7, 2017: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced that the polling for upcoming Presidential election will be held on July 17 and the counting of votes will be done on July 20.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said the poll body will issue a notification in this regard on June 14.

“The last date for nominations is June 28. The date for scrutiny of the nomination is June 30. And the last date for withdrawal of nomination is July 1,” Zaidi said.

He further added that the voting will begin at 10 am on July 17 and will go on till 5 PM and the counting of votes will begin at 11 AM on July 20.

President Pranab Mukherjee’s term expires on July 25.

Schedule released by the Election Commission:

  • The date for issuing notification is June 14.
  • The last date to make a nomination is June 28.
  • The date for scrutiny of nomination is June 29.
  • The last date for withdrawal of nomination is July 1.
  • The election will take place on July 17.
  • Counting of votes will be held on July 20.
