Patna, July 17: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP senior leader Sushil Modi couldn’t able to vote for  NDA’s presidential candidate Kovind as they are members of the Legislative Council.

As per the guidelines, only elected MPs (from both Houses) and MLAs from state assemblies, including Delhi and Puducherry, are eligible to cast their vote in the Presidential election. Nitish, by virtue of being an MLC, would not be able to participate in the Presidential election.

As being an MLC Nitish Kumar and Sushil Modi would not be able to participate in the Presidential election.

Apart from Kumar and Modi, Congress state president Ashok Chaudhary, State Minister Madan Mohan Jha, Lalan Singh are also not eligible to cast votes.

“The last time he cast his vote was in 2002 when APJ Abdul Kalam was in the fray. Nitish was then a Lok Sabha member from Bihar’s Barh constituency,” a ruling party source told Deccan Herald.
