President, PM greets nation on ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’

New Delhi, Sep 13: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the country on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

“Ganpati Bappa Morya! greetings and good wishes to my fellow citizens on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. May Lord Ganesh guide us all towards a path of progress, peace, happiness and prosperity,” the President tweeted.

PM Modi also took to Twitter and said: “Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.”

Also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, this is a 10-day Hindu festival that reveres Lord Ganesha.

The auspicious day marks the birth of Hindu God Ganesha and starts with the ‘sthapana’ of the Lord in the house, ending with ‘visarj an’ on the tenth day.

The 10-day festival is starting from today (September 13) and the visarjan will take place on September 23.

Devotees clean up their houses and install idols of Lord Ganesha and worship him with flowers and delicious sweets.
