President, PM greet nation on 84th Indian Air Force day


New Delhi, Oct 7: The Indian Air Force celebrated its 84th anniversary today. The celebration started from Hindon air base in Ghaziabad with a large scale parade and air display.

Prime minister Narender Modi also greeted the nation on this auspicious occasion.

“Saluting all air warriors and their families on the Air Force Day. Thank you for protecting our skies. Your courage makes India proud,” Modi tweeted.

Meanwhile, the celebration began from flag bearing sky divers of famous AKASH GANGA team. They dropped out AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies.


The function closed with a scintillating aerobatic display.

President, Pranab Mukherjee also greeted the Indian Air Force on its anniversary and said in a message that the nation is proud of the capabilities and competency of the IAF as over the last eight decades, it has emerged as an immensely professional and combat-ready force.

He further said that the IAF has achieved distinction in defending India skies and delivering vital humanitarian aid an disaster relief. The President believes in the air force team that the team is prepared for the further challenges.

Speaking at the function, IAF chief Arup Raha said, “The acquisition of 36 Rafale aircrafts in next few years could greatly enhance our operational capability in near term.”

The official Facebook page of IAF was launched on Saturday on 84th Air Force Day.
