Prasoon Joshi Birthday Special: 10 magnificent songs penned by the CBFC Chief

New Delhi, Sep 16: The popular Indian lyricist, screenwriter, poet and marketer ‘Prasoon Joshi’ is celebrating his 46th birthday today.

The famous poet is now the Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification after the oustre of controversial Pahlaj Nihalani from the post. Prasoon is a celebrated personality of film fraternity and Indian Cinema. The writer is much-loved by the poetry aficionados across the country. There are many facets to his personality, he is reckoned as a talented artist and also celebrated as an exceptionally-well screenwriter. With his skills and zeal for poetry and arts, he carved a niche in the industry.

He made his debut as film lyricist with Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lajja, a critical and commercial success, and this soon led to Yash Chopra’s Hum Tum and a string of highly successful Bollywood films like Fanaa, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, Black and Delhi 6. With Rang De Basanti (2006), he also became a dialogue writer.

He won the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award for “Chand Sifarish” from the film Fanaa in 2007 and for “Maa” from Taare Zameen Par in 2008. He has won the prestigious National Award twice. The first for his work in Taare Zameen Par and the second one in 2013 for Chittagong.

He had also written the script for the award-winning 2014 film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Winner of Best Lyricist Filmfare Award thrice, Joshi also won the National Award twice for his heart warming lyrics in Taare Zameen Par and Chittagong. He has also been conferred with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 2015 for his immense and prolific contribution in the fields of Art, Literature and Advertising.
