Srinagar, Sep 13: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Thursday said an election which won’t see people’s participation is considered to be an election by the Narendra Modi government.
“An election which won’t see people’s participation is considered to be an election by Centre, what can we say? We haven’t asked people to not participate or boycott the elections”, Abdullah told media.
He further said, “we have just said that our party won’t take part in Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat polls”.
Last week, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also decided to boycott these polls.
Abdullah’s remark comes a day after Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subrahmanyam denied reports that the upcoming municipal elections are likely to be deferred.
“Municipal and Panchayat polls will be held as per schedule”, Subrahmanyam said.
