New Delhi,26 August: The fire which made the Panchkula city burn has reached to CM’s chair as opposition along with the people has started asking for his resignation.

Former Haryana CM Bhupinder singh hooda asked for Khattar’s resignation and a presidential rule in the state after violence, arson, police firing and deaths following the rape conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Not just the former Haryana CM but other parties leader also hit out at the government’s failure to tackle the violence erupted by Dera supporters. CPI(M) leader Sitaram yechury in his tweet said,”The govt in Haryana has lost its authority to continue. This is at least the third such incident. The CM must go.”

Meanwhile criticising the goverment Congress MP Shashi tharoor said if the CM is not resigning then he should be sacked.”Where was Haryana government? How could they allow people to gather? Everybody could see that they were preparing for violence then why didn’t the Haryana government impose Section 144 (of the CrPC) and control the situation. The management failed and the buck has to stop somewhere. Enough is enough”, Tharoor said.

BSP president Mayawati on Saturday also demanded immediate dismissal of the Khattar government over the violence in Haryana, saying such “shameful surrender” to votebank politics needed to be condemned.

Earlier Congress leader Abhishek manu singhavi said “When reports of people gathering with violent intentions were there before the government why wasn’t pre-emptive action taken. Panchkula is home to the Western Command of the Indian Army. If the Haryana police or the paramilitary forces were incapable, as the Jat agitation had demonstrated, then why wasn’t the Army deployed in a pre-emptive move?” he asked.

A CBI court in Haryana’s Panchkula town on Friday held the Dera chief guilty of rape and sexual exploitation of two women followers in 2002, sparking widespread violence by his followers. The security forces opened fire to control the mob.At least 31 people, 29 of them in Panchkula town, died in the violence, and 250 others were injured.Vehicles and property were also damaged and set on fire by the unruly Dera followers.
