Melbourne, Nov 9: One person was killed, while two others were injured on Friday in a stabbing incident in Melbourne while the suspected knife-wielding man has been shot by police.
The police initially responded to a vehicle fire on Bourke Street, reports Efe news.
When police rushed to the incident spot, “they were confronted by a male brandishing a knife and threatening them”, Victoria Police Superintendent David Clayton told media.
“Police shot the male in the chest and he is now in a critical condition under guard in hospital,” he asserted.
Clayton also said that there was no known link to ‘terrorism’ and the cops were not looking for other offenders at this stage, but they were calling for witnesses and those with visual evidence including video and photos to come forward.
