Police complaint filed against JNU students for abusing, manhandling dean

New Delhi, March 14: The Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) administration alleged that student union members manhandled the Dean of Students (DoS), Umesh Ashok Kadam, while protesting near his chamber on March 12.

The CCTV footage shows 10-15 students engaged in a scuffle outside the Dean’s office.

However, in connection with this, a police complaint against JNUSU has been filed and the JNU administration has also set up an internal inquiry.

The varsity in its statement said students staged a protest outside Dean’s chamber on 12 March. The statement says students were called inside the chamber for discussion but they manhandled and abused the dean.

“They blocked the room with sofa not letting the DoS leave. The guards somehow managed to help him make an exit,” the statement said.
