PM pay tribute to Sardar Patel for uniting India

NewDelhi, Oct 31: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India who played a leading role in the country’s struggle for independence .

PM Narendra Modi on Monday paid rich tributes to India’s first home minister Sardar Patel on his 141st birth anniversary.
“I bow to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. We recall his rich contribution to India,” PM Modi said on his official Twitter handle.


This day is being celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day).
“Today, the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is under one flag and the credit for this goes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” Modi said addressing a gathering at the National Stadium here on the birth anniversary of the country’s ‘Iron Man’.

PM Modi also offered floral tributes at Sardar Patel’s statue at Patel Chowk in Delhi’s Parliament Street.

“While leaving the country, the British had played politics to divide India into numerous small states, but Sardar Patel made sure that it stayed as one nation,” he added.
