PM Modi targets Congress leaders, avoids probing scandals by his ministers

Modi led government must know that the huge mandate was given to him by the people of India on trust that he will act against the corrupt and not carry out his vendetta politics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi deliberately targeting Congress leaders on the charges of corruption but avoids setting up probe or sacking ministers of his government on the allegations of corruption and miserably failed to extradite economic offenders.

The Modi government is known for diverting the attention of people from its failures and the most recent revealed in the Nirav Modi-Mehul Choksi scandal entailing loss of worth Rs1250 Crore in the Punjab National bank fraud case by suddenly arresting Karti Chidambaram in connection with the INX media on the grounds that he is not cooperating with the CBI investigation.

Whenever a scam under Modi government is unearthed or questioned by the Opposition, Prime Minister asks his investigative agencies to speed up the investigation against the leaders of the Opposition to create a fake atmosphere that the BJP government is cleaning up the system by taking on the corrupt while no inquiry has been ordered on the allegations of Arun Jaitley’s involvement in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam, Sushma Swaraj’s alleged links with scam-tainted Lalit Modi,Chhattisgarh’s CM Raman Singh’s linkage with the PDS/NAN scams, Madhya Pradesh’s CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s connection with the DMAT and Vyapam scams,Rajasthan’s CM Vasundhara Raje’s involvement in the Lalit Modi and mining scams, alleged multi-fold increase in the business fortunes of BJP national president Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah.

Modi led government must know that the huge mandate was given to him by the people of India on trust that he will act against the corrupt and not carry out his vendetta politics.

Modi government’s main aim is to befool the people of India by showing them the government is keen on implementing welfare schemes for the people and putting in jails the corrupt people. But it is actually misleading the nation by allowing the cabinet to approve the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill to confiscate the assets of economic offenders who flee the country to evade the judicial process by staying outside the jurisdiction of Indian courts.

What the government was doing when alleged economic offenders like Indian Premier League founder Lalit Modi, liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi left the country. Although the Complaints against Nirav Modi and Choksi had been coming since 2015 and were presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but no action was taken rather a government appeared to have connived with them.

Congress leader Anand Sharma said the Centre approved Fugitive Economic Offenders bill just to divert attention. We want to know what they did earlier and not what they will do in the future, the country already has many laws. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) attaches the properties of so many people and makes cases.”

Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala said “Art of leaving after defrauding banks is the new culture under BJP government A scam a day gets unearthed as Modiji remains on Maun Vrat. last 12 days saw the bank loot scams of Rs 31,691 crore.”

It is pertinent to mention when UPA was confronted with just possibility of a scam, Manmohan Singh government used to sack the minister and initiate the probe but the current government do not bother to investigate the cases against the corrupt ministers including the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party

Karti Chidambaram, son of senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, was sent to CBI custody till March 6th by a Delhi court.Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was leading Karti’s defence team, said “What happened for six months? (CBI)Kumbhakaran also slept for six months… I (Karti) am ready to be confronted.”

CBI had spent almost 22 hours with Karti in August last year and no fresh summon had been issued thereafter. He said this showed that the CBI had nothing more to ask him. “They are trying to prejudice the court. What is the test of remand? The agency has to establish non-cooperation. Did you (CBI) test non-cooperation? There is no tampering. The agency says ‘what he did abroad’, but it did not challenge the order of the High Court that allowed him to go abroad,” he said.

Singhvi revealed what the case is all about: senior journalist Vir Sanghvi had complained to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, alleging irregularities in INX Media.

“Thereafter, the complaint was forwarded to Finance Ministry when Karti’s father P Chidambaram was Finance Minister. He cleared the complaint to Ministry of Corporate Affairs after which the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) took over the investigation, and in 2013 presented a report indicating the INX Media… It is preposterous to say that on the one hand P Chidambaram cleared prosecution of INX Media and, on the other hand, he asked the owners of INX Media to help his son’s business,” he said.

Whereas the CBI said it has plenty of evidence against Karti which cannot be discussed in open court.

The arrest of Karti Chidambaram is totally a political move as BJP came to power in 2014 with false promises which Narendra Modi made during his election campaign and now after four years of his rule and when he takes credit for all the elections won under his leadership, Modi finds that BJP’s popularity has drastically dipped due to misgovernance, poor law and order conditions, joblessness and corruption scandals in which fugitives have looted the taxpayers’ money, therefore, it is trying to remind the people of the alleged corruption of the Congress.

Irony of the situation is Modi came to power due to Aam Aadmi’s hopes from him but now common man is the most troubled and tortured lot due to increase in taxes, less pay or no job, high inflation, costly education, hike in transportation fares and unable to own a house.

Modi will try every possible move to win the 2018 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections by dividing the people of India on the basis of caste, creed and religion along with asking the investigative agencies to act against Opposition leaders including Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law Robert Vadra.
