Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday jointlyinaugurated Petrapole Integrated checkpost in North 24 parganas , the biggest land port in South Asia, through video conferencing.
Prime Minister Modi listened as Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina spoke through video conferencing. In a statement, PM Modi said the inauguration of Petrapole checkpost will not only promote bilateral trade but also help in economic growth of both countries.
“Eight such integrated check posts along Indo-Bangladesh border to be set up in times to come,” added Modi.
Terming the occasion as a historic day , Mamata Banerjee said this would expedite development .She said she was happy as the land port was opened on July 21 which is considered to be the Martyrs’ Day by Trinamool Congress.
“India stands with Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism and will extend all possible help in this regard,” said PM Modi.
