New Delhi, March 6: In a fresh attack, the Congress on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi misused his office to give benefit to Dassault Aviation in the Rafale Deal.

“The corruption and maleficence in Rafale deal is out in open. PM Modi misused his office to give benefit to Dassault Aviation and consequently cause loss to public Exchequer”, Senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said while addressing a press conference in the national capital.

“The falsehood and dishonesty of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government is placed in the public domain. As per the report of Indian Negotiating Team, the price of 36 aircrafts it is ₹63,450Cr and not what is claimed by the centre”.

The Congress leader further stated “the maleficence has one more angle to it. Even the price of ₹63,450 Crore has been calculated by INT presuming an inflation rate of 1.22% per year in France and calculating it only for less than 6 years”.

But aircrafts are not getting delivered for 10 years, so the price has to be paid is for 10 years. Inflation rate is 3.5% in France & Modi Govt has committed that they will pay this rate every year. Who will pay for this loss to Exchequer? , he asked.

“While calculating the price of 36 aircrafts, the cost of India Specific Enhancements- ₹9750Cr- was not included. When we were buying with same ISE, cost was ₹83Cr/aircraft, when Modi govt buys it has suddenly gone up to ₹271Cr/aircraft”.

Surjewala also told the reporters that the decision and the price to purchase 36 aircrafts was done by Ajit Doval on 12-13 Jan, 2016.

“Doval was neither authorised by Cabinet Committee on Security nor was he a part of the Indian Negotiating Team (INT). Incidentally, contract was signed on 13th Jan, 2016”, the Congress leader added.
