New Delhi, Nov 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Bangladeshi Counter part Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday jointly launched a new cross-border train ‘Bandhan Express’ between Kolkata and Bangladesh’s Khulna.
The two leaders inaugurated the service through video-conferencing, Baneerjee joined them from Kolkata railway station.
After flagging off the new passenger train, Modi said I am happy that today we inaugurated projects strengthening our connectivity via video conference.
“I believe that relations between leaders of neighboring countries should be like neighbors”, he added.

India and Bangladesh already have a cross-border train service named Maitree Express, which connects Dhaka and Kolkata. Bandhan Express will be the second train which will run between the two countries.
However, newly launched train service will start operating on November 16.
Bandhan Express will run only once a week. Apart from this, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Bhairab and Titas railway bridges via video conference.
