PM Modi greets nation on World Radio Day


NewDelhi, February 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greets the nation on the occassion of World Radio Day to all the Radio Lovers.

He said radio is a wonderful way to learn, interact and communicate with people.

World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 to celebrate radio as a medium to promote and access information. Radio Day raises awareness about the importance of radio and strengthen the networking among broadcasters.

The UNESCO’s theme for World Radio Day is 2017 edition of World Radio Day is “Radio is You!”


UNESCO: “Radio is still the most dynamic, reactive and engaging medium there is, adapting to 21st century changes and offering new ways to interact and participate. Where social media and audience fragmentation can put us in media bubbles of like-minded people, radio is uniquely positioned to bring communities together and foster positive dialogue for change. By listening to its audiences and responding to their needs, radio provides the diversity of views and voices needed to address the challenges we all face. Radio informs us and transforms us, through entertainment, information and audience participation. Having a radio means you are never alone – you always have a friend in radio.

In 2011, the Unesco General Conference had proclaimed February 13 as World Radio Day, the day United Nations Radio was established in 1946.

Radio is the most frequent medium, with the ability to reach up to 95 percent of the world’s population.
