Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee addressed a rally in Purulia district ahead of the West Bengal election and promised free ration would if voted back to power.
Coming down hard at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the main challenger to the TMC in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, she accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of running the nation in an autocratic manner.
“People from the civil society who raise voice against the government are silenced…political parties are being silenced. I will continue to fight against such practices…BJP hatao desh bachao,” Banerjee said.
“PM Modi is incompetent, cannot run the country,” Banerjee said.
She further hit out at the BJP government at the Cente over rising fuel prices and privatisation of public sector enterprises.
While highlighting her government’s policies, the Bengal CM asserted that no other government in the world has been able to do as much work as Trinamool government.
The Trinamool supremo made several attempts to attract the tribals to vote for her party.
Banerjee said that her government has announced a widow pension of Rs 1000 and also provided caste certificates under Duarey Sarkar.
West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021 will be held in eight phases and the Election Commission will be announcing the results on May 2. The upcoming Bengal polls are witnessing a high-voltage campaign b the ruling TMC and the resurgent BJP.
