Aligarh, Oct 5 : The Aligarh Muslim University administration has served a show cause notice to the librarian of Central Library for displaying photographs featuring Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah with Mahatma Gandhi as a part of an exhibition on Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.
“Show cause notice issued to the librarian by administration,” Omar Saleem Peerzada, PRO at Aligarh Muslim University, said on pictures of Muhammad Ali Jinnah with Mahatma Gandhi seen at exhibition as part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at AMU.It was a part of a 3-day exhibition.
This is the second time that Jinnah controversy has struck the Aligarh Muslim University.
The AMU administration took objection to Jinnah’s photographs with Mahatma Gandhi and other leaders being selected and displayed at the exhibition organised at the Central Library of the university.
AMU spokesperson Shafey Kidwai said that the administration was not aware of such pictures.
Meanwhile, AMU has issued a show-cause notice to librarian Amzad Ali.
In May, the campus witnessed violence after university students objected to the protests by right-wing group Hindu Yuva Vahini on the campus, demanding the removal of Jinnah’s portrait from the students’ union office.
