Panaji, July 18 : The Goa government’s Food and Drugs Administration has warned chemists against sale of government-endorsed rapid testing kits to private individuals for home testing, pointing out that the practice has been ‘banned’.

An advisory issued in this regard follows online advertisements and on the social media that solicited buyers for the kits.

“These kits are to be used by the laboratories recognized by Indian Council for Medical Research. Further, they have said that these kits cannot be sold to individuals for home testing,” the state FDA advisory added.

The note warned that it was illegal for such kits to be advertised online, as per government norms.

“The FDA has issued the clarification as it has come to know that some videos and messages on ‘Abehek Rapid Diagnostic Kit’ are being circulated on the social media, wherein rapid home test kits are said to be available in all medical shops.

Chemists and druggists are directed to take note that violation in this matter will attract strict action as per the law,” the advisory added.
