Patna, Oct 9: The Patna High Court on Tuesday dismissed an anticipatory bail plea by former Bihar Minister Manju Verma in connection with an Arms Act case.
Justice Sudhir Singh rejected the application of Verma, against whom an FIR was registered in August at Cheria Bariarpur police station of Begusarai district after the Central Bureau of Investigation seized about 50 cartridges from her residence.
The CBI also lodged an FIR against her husband Chandeshwar Verma.
The seizure was made during searches at Vermas Patna and Begusarai residences by the probe agency over the Muzaffarpur shelter home horror.
Last week, the court had reserved its order after the hearing was concluded.
Manju Verma resigned on August 8 following allegations that her husband has links with the main accused of Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case, Brajesh Thakur.
Held on June 2, Thakur is currently lodged in the Muzaffarpur jail.
Of the 42 girls lodged at the residential hostel run by Thakur’s NGO, 34 were found to have been sexually assaulted. The incident came to light after a social audit by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
Since then, the shelter home has been sealed.
