The SIT has recommended FIR on the basis of information provided to the Pakistani counterpart Lt General (Retired) Naseer Khan by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

This comes over 10 days after Pakistan claimed that not much evidence was provided by India to establish the role of Masood Azhar.

The report was based on the findings of the team constituted by Pakistan to probe the attacks.

Pakistan NSA Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua conveyed the report to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval recently. As per reports, Janjua contacted Doval to update him on the SIT probe and to work out possible dates for talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in US in March.

According to the Pakistani media, a meeting is likely to be held on the sidelines of a nuclear summit hosted by US President Barack Obama in Washington.

Sharif and Modi have both accepted Obama’s invitation to attend the summit on March 31 and April 1. This will be their first meeting following the Pathankot attacks and David Headley’s revelations about the 26/11 Mumbai attack.
