Parliament winter session wraps up with Triple Talaq in cliffhanger

This Winter Session of Parliament ended without the passage of the triple talaq bill as the opposition remains undeterred on the fact that the bill must be sent to the select committee for a cross check and some crucial amendments.  

On the last day of Winter session, the Congress party has issued three-line whip for its members in Rajya Sabha, asking them to remain present in the house today. Whereas BJP has issued whip for members of both houses to remain there on the last day.

All three retiring Members are from Delhi — Janardan Dwivedi, Parvez Hashmi and Karan Singh. Mr. Singh rises to make his farewell speech. “I came to Parliament 50 years ago, as an idealistic young man of 36 years. I now bid farewell, as an idealistic old man.”
The leader of the opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ravi Shankar Prasad made farewell speeches for the retiring members.

During question hour Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed centers have been established in various states to train police officers in cyber forensic intelligence.

Jai Ram Ramesh of Congress Party asked how the cost of production is fixed for MSP. “What is the new system for fixing the cost of production.”

Rajya Sabha adjourned sine-die.

Suresh Prabhu, the Commerce Minister informed members in the House about the mini-ministerial meet in the WTO.
