New Delhi, Dec 12: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday after witnessing unrelenting protests both by the opposition, who raised the Rafale deal among various issues, while NDA ally Shiv Sena demanded early construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The House witnessed ruckus soon after it met for the second day of the winter session. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge got up from his seat and wanted to speak on a notice given by Congress member Sunil Jakhar. But he was not allowed.

Jakhar had given notice for moving an adjournment motion on the Rafale deal.

Amid a din created by the Congress, the TDP and other opposition members, who reached near the Speaker’s podium and started sloganeering, Sumitra Mahajan failed to conduct the question hour and adjourned the House till noon.

Soon after the House met at 12 p.m., the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Telugu Desam Party and other opposition members were again on their feet.

They approached the Speaker’s podium again and started shouting slogans alleging corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal. The Trinamool members were also seen raising slogans.

The DMK members, meanwhile, raised the Cauvery water distribution issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while the TDP demanded special status for Andhra Pradesh.

The Shiv Sena members also trooped near the Speaker’s podium raising their demand for early construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Mahajan urged the agitating members not to disturb the functioning of the House but the opposition as well as the Shiv Sena members were on their feet.

As they did not relent, Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.
