New Delhi, July 3 : Parliament Live-The debate in Rajya Sabha is on electoral reforms, including ‘One Nation, One Election’, electoral bonds and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Expressing concern over the BJP government trying to privatize the ‘Modern Coach Factory’ in Rae Bareli and some public sector undertakings, including HAL, BSNL and MTNL, Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday reminded the Narendra Modi government in the Parliament that Pt Jawaharlal Nehru had termed PSUs as ‘temples of modern India’ and if such institutions are privatized to benefit industrialists then it will cause uncertainty among employees and their families.

In Lok Sabha, Sonia Gandhi said, “the government is seeking to surreptitiously privatise the Modern Coach Factory in Rae Bareli but former PM Jawaharlal Nehru had termed PSUs as ‘temples of modern India’. It hurts to see that most of such temples are in danger today. Despite profits, their employees are not being salary on time & they’ve been put in trouble to benefit some industrialists.”

The UPA chairperson expressed concerns over the condition of some public sector undertakings, including HAL, BSNL and MTNL.

Samajwadi Party MP, actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan gave a Zero Hour notice in connection with the safety of women and children. The Zero Hour refers to the time that follows the Question Hour when the lawmakers can raise matters of great importance without the mandatory ten days notice.
