Opposition Unites at DMK Chief Karunanidhi’s Birthday Bash, Rahul targets BJP



June 4, Sunday : Top opposition leaders united on the occasion of DMK chief M Karunanidhi 94th birthday to showcase power of oneness ahead of Presidential elections in Chennai on Saturday.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Sitaram Yechury of the Left and Majeed Memon of the Nationalist Congress Party were the opposition leaders who were present to mark DMK chief birthday and completion of sixty years legislation without losing a single election. The party was hosted by Karunidhi’s son MK Stalin.

While RJD supremo Lalu Yadav was also expected to come but due to high fever, he had to drop his plan. However , Karunanidhi missed the occasion as doctors didn’t allowed him due to his ill  health.

During the celebration leaders expressed their views on contemporary political situation.

Targeting  BJP, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said will not allow theRashtriya Swoayamsevak Sangh (RSS) or Prime Minister Narendra Modi impose only one idea on the country. He also praised Stalin’s hard-work and highlighted achievements of DMK.

While, Former Chief Minister of Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said “I am here to start a new chapter with Stalin and all the opposition parties”.

Not only this , targeting at central government he asserted, We want to show the BJP you can’t dream of a country without the Congress and Opposition parties across the country.

Sitaram Yechury asked all opposition leaders should  stand together to meet the challenge.

Taking a dig at the BJP,  Stalin  questioned its work on development and the promises which Modi government failed to fulfill.

Govt ‘Invented’ story on Data theft to divert attention from death of 39 Indians in Mosul: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, March 22: Launching a scathing attack, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said the Narendra Modi government invented a story on “data theft” to divert public attention from the death of 39 Indians in Mosul. 

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi stated as the Centre caught lying over the death of thirty-nine Indians so they created a story on Congress and Data Theft.

As a result, all the attention diverted to data theft.

The AICC chief asserted problems and solutions in a tweet.

Problem: 39 Indians dead; Govt on the mat, caught lying.

Solution: Invent story on Congress & Data Theft.

Result: Media networks bite bait; 39 Indians vanish from radar.

Problem solved.

Election Commission allows Mukhtar Ansari to vote in Rajya Sabha polls

Lucknow, March 22: The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday allowed jailed Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mukhtar Ansari to cast vote in the upcoming Rajya Sabha (RS) elections.

BSP national general secretary, Rajya Sabha member and renowned Supreme Court advocate, Satish Chand Mishra had filed a plea in the Allahabad High Court for the release of two Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Mukhtar Ansari of the BSP and Hariom Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), so that they could participate in March 23 elections.

Ansari is the prime accused in the killing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Krishnanand Rai, among other crimes, and has pleaded not guilty.

In September 2017, He was acquitted in connection with contractor Manna Singh’s murder case.

There will be 59 vacancies in the Rajya Sabha in April.

The tenure of three nominated members – actor Rekha, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and social worker Anu Aga – will also be ending then.

TDP calls for statewide protest




Amaravati, March 22: The Telugu Desam Party to stage a statewide peaceful protest in the support of party MPs’ agitation in the Parliament on Thursday. 

Calling for the agitation, TDP Andhra Pradesh unit president K . Kala Venkatrao in a teleconference with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, in-charges and other party leaders told them to sit on demonstration and protest meetings in major junctions of all constituencies , ANI reported.

Venkatrao also urged them that the agitation must be peaceful and should not cause any trouble to the common man.

Meanwhile, the mass organisations affiliated to left parties on Thursday also called for highway blockade, which all parties except the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) backed.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also announced support to the blockade and cited state interests as the reason .

Venkatrao stated the YSRCP may cause destruction and violence during the protest, so the TDP should not join protests along with them but hold public agitation separately.

On the other hand, Naidu in a teleconference with MPs asserted the BJP had been suspecting the TDP for quite some time now and not believing the TDP chief’s statement about his interest in national politics.

“They do not believe even after I clarified that I don’t have any interest in national politics . For the same, though there was no need, the ruling party at Centre took the support of YSRCP during the presidential polls”.

After the Andhra ruling party’s withdrew from the NDA, Wednesday’s assembly session witnessed  a confrontation between the TDP and BJP on ranges of issues.
