Opposition can’t afford to oppose Ram temple: Mohan Bhagwat

Oct 3 : Asserting that only a Ram Mandir can be built at the disputed site in Ayodhya, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has claimed that even the Opposition parties cannot openly oppose the temple as the deity is revered by the majority of people in the country.

“Even those who are in the parties that oppose Ram Mandir, cannot oppose it openly. Because they know that they are in power and crores of Hindus & a huge section of the nation are devotees of Ram,”Bhagwat said.

A group of saints have decided to undertake an indefinite fast from October 1.

Mahant Paramhans Das of Tapasvi Chavni temple told reporters in Ayodhya that he had sent information in this regard to the President, Prime Minister chief minister and the local administration.

“The fast will continue till the obstacles in the temple construction are removed. We will also perform ‘Shila pujan’ at the temple every day and saints and Ram Bhakts will participate in it,” he said.

Bhagwat, who was attending a function at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Hardwar said the RSS and the BJP are committed to constructing the temple in Ayodhya but certain things take time.

Bhagwat’s latest statement on the Ram Mandir comes at a time when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a Sangh Parivar affiliate, has called a meeting of saints on October 5 to discuss the Ram Mandir issue, which is now sub judice in the Supereme Court.

He said it’s important who occupies the seat of power and a government doing a good job should remain in office.

“Every government has its limitations and has to perform within those constraints. However, saints and seers are beyond such limitations and they should work for the uplift of religion, country and society, the RSS chief said.
