While the opposition has been repeatedly asking for prime minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the House, it was updated by Mallikarjun Kharge, that Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi will speak in the Lok Sabha today on demonetisation issue but the LS was adjourned later on.
Yesterday Rajya Sabha witnessed strong speeches by the opposition leaders criticising the government over the move Wednesday, Lok Sabha is likely to see the same today.
As serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs to withdraw or exchange currency notes cease to recede, the government’s stress over demonetisation would also not reduce. The opposition is united to voice against centre’s decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes and problems being faced by the common man.
However, the Centre has maintained that the step was in ‘national interest’ and those opposing the decision of currency ban should answer ‘if they support black money and corruption.’

11:10 am: The opposition parties in Lok Sabha demanded debate on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes by the central government. The discussion is expected to be heated.
