New Delhi Lynching has become a routine in the country, cow vigilantes and communal notions are targeting people in every possible way . But after the recent lynching of a 15 year old boy, a group of people has decided to show their anguish on social media .
A filmmaker started an online campaign leading to protest marches being held in five different cities of the country.
Citizen protests will be held in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru simultaneously on 28 June, the filmmaker, Saba Dewan said.
On social media thousands of people has pledged to protest for the campaign ‘NOT IN MY NAME’.
It all started when Gurgaon based filmaker Saba Dewan wrote a post on social media criticising the recently started lynching culture.
The filmaker Saba Dewan’s facebook post stated “Shouldn’t there be protests against the lynchings especially after the murder yesterday in Delhi NCR by a mob of a 16 year old Muslim boy? If not now then when?
Why wait for political formations to organize a demonstration ? Why can’t all of us as citizens repulsed by the violence get together in protest at the earliest next week at Jantar Mantar under the banner – Not in my Name”
Junaid a 15 year old boy was stabbed to death in a mathura bound train on 22nd june.
According to Saba Dewan’s post a protest will be held tommorow at 6PM. on Jantar Mantar, Delhi
