One injured in grenade attack in Imphal

Imphal, June 8, 2017: One person was wounded when suspected militants lobbed a grenade into a pharmacy in the Manipur capital on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who also holds the Home portfolio, visited the spot within minutes of the blast. The injured salesman, Waikhom Rajesh, is said to be out of danger.

Biren Singh said the grenade attack at a crowded market place was condemnable. “The miscreants shall be booked.”

Ajay Kumar Jain, the proprietor of Mahavir Medical Store, said: “We have not received any extortion threats from insurgents. We do not know who threw the grenade.”

Bombs go off almost every other day in Manipur.

Sunny morning in Delhi, rains likely

New Delhi, June 23: It was a sunny morning in the national capital on Saturday with the minimum temperature recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average.

There might be light rains towards evening, with maximum temperature likely to hover around 43 degrees, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

“The sky will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of very light rains towards evening,” an IMD official told IANS.

The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 47 per cent.

Friday’s maximum temperature settled at 42.5 degrees, four notches above the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average.

Uttar Pradesh: Minor gang-raped in Bulandshahr

Lucknow, June 23: A minor girl was allegedly raped by seven people in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district.

Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police,  Bulandshahr, Raees Akhtar said that the Case has been registered and a search operation has been launched by the police to find the culprits’.

As per the reports, the incident took place on Monday when the girl had gone with her family members to attend her cousin’s engagement ceremony in Chacheri village.

On Friday, the victim’s brother registered a case against all the accused.

The girl also accused them of filming the incident.

7 killed in Gujarat road accident

Amreli, June 23: At least seven people lost their lives and 24 others wounded after a truck skidded off a bridge near Bhavnagar-Somnath highway in Gujarat’s Amreli district.

The accident took place on Friday late night.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, and are undergoing treatment.
