Bihar, June 19: In such brazen crime in Bihar, a boyfriend set a girl on fire after raping her at her house in Bihar’s Khagaria district on Sunday.
In such a heinous crime, a young man or a starving crook entered the house of the girl and raped her before setting her on fire with kerosene oil at Temtha Karari village, Superintendent of Police Minu Kumari said.
After committing the crime, he escapes out the girl’s room by locking the door from outside.
After noticing her cries, locals broke open the door of her room and took her to Sadar hospital where she died, Kumari said.
In her dying statement, the victim blamed her lover for the crime, the SP said. The accused and his relatives were absconding. Both the victim and her boyfriend lived in the same village and were students of the same college, she added.
Earlier on Sunday, a teenager was gang-raped by six men and later thrown off the moving train in Bihar.
The rising crime incidents against women in Nitish ruling Bihar are raising concerns over the safety of girls in the state.
The government needs to take stringent action to put a reign on such horrifying crime.
