At a recent awards’ function held in Madrid, as Salman Khan was in the spotlight for him using a rape analogy, there was another controversy brewing around the corner with the presence of Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik, who has mostly kept quiet about the incident, was asked at an award ceremony if he has moved on from the controversy. “Nothing is behind me. It’s in front of me and soon it will be in front of you,” the 42-year-old actor told reporters at the 17th IIFA green carpet in Madrid.

The ugly spat between Hrithik and Kangana Ranaut early this year seems like a thing of the past, or that’s what some think because when Hrithik took the stage to answer questions, he confirmed how he had not forgotten about the legal tussle which took place only a few months ago.

Their famous feud began when Kangana in an interview, hinted at Hrithik, calling him a ‘silly ex’. Hrithik responded with a statement on the lines of, ‘there are more chances of me dating the Pope’.

The spat turned ugly when Hrithik slapped a legal notice on Kangana and asked her for a public apology. Kangana, on the other hand, said she was not some ‘dim-witted teenager’ and shot off a counter notice to her co-star of Kites (2010) and Krrish 3 (2013).

Hrithik is currently looking forward to his next film, Ashutosh Gowariker directed Mohenjo Daro, which releases on 12th August and he has started work on Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil.

Kangana’s period romance film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj – Rangoon will release on 24 February next year and soon she will leave for the US to start work on Hansal Mehta’s next, Simran.

Tandav FIRs: Actors, makers may face arrest as SC declines protection

Supreme Court

New Delhi, Jan 27 : Web series ‘Tandav’ actors, makers, including Saif Ali Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar likely face arrest after Supreme Court on Wednesday turned down their pleas for protection from arrest.

A three judge bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan only issued notice on clubbing of various FIRs registered across the country and asked actor Zeeshan Ayyub and others to move to High Courts for quashing of FIRs or bail in the matters.

Senior Advocate Fali S. Nariman requested for an order of no coercive action against the cast and producers of the web series. However, the bench refused to grant relief. “Approach High Court” said the top court.

During the hearing the apex court noted that it may consider the request for clubbing the FIRs, but it cannot take the power of the High Court under CrPC.

The observation was made after senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi requested the court to grant the petitioners no coercive step order, club the FIRS and issue notice to the parties.

Ahead of lunch, the top court had orally observed that freedom of speech was not absolute during its hearing on pleas seeking stay on FIRs against actors and producers of Tandav web series on Amazon Prime.

Justice Bhushan had expressed its disinclination to pass any direction to stay the FIRs. Senior advocates Fali S. Nariman, Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Luthra cited the top court judgment in Arnab Goswami case to seek relief in the matter.

Luthra argued that the director of the web series is being harassed. “Is this way liberty should be protected in the country and FIRs are being filed across the country,” he added. The bench observed that the right to freedom of speech is not absolute and it is subjected to restrictions.

Nariman submitted that apologies have been made, and despite that several FIRs have been filed in six states. Justice Bhushan replied: “You want the FIRs to be quashed, then why can’t you approach the High Courts?”

Nariman said the web series makers have removed the objectionable content and still there are cases being filed against them. The top court questioned, why petitioners have moved the court under Article 32.

The bench said the police can file closure reports too if apologies have been made.

Rohatgi cited Arnab Goswami case to move the top court after a violation of Article 19(1)(a). He added people get offended with anything and everything these days. “Please protect us with no coercive steps. We deleted content without any protest. Scenes have been deleted. Its a political satire,” argued Rohatgi.

Rohatgi submitted that People are so sensitive in this country freedom to speech under then 19 (1)(a) would be destroyed.

Kangana Ranaut

Mumbai, Jan 27 : Actress Kangana Ranaut is disturbed by visuals of the farmers’ protest on Republic Day in Delhi, and on Wednesday slammed Bollywood for allegedly hiding behind the garb of entertainment and provoking terrorism and violence.

The actress took to Twitter to denounce the farmers, whom she labelled as “terrorists”, and slammed people, including actors, for supporting them and actions, which she says led to widespread violence.

“I did my best to avoid this but I failed…. I may be a spec in the scheme of things but my failure is enormous…. at least it feels like that …. my head hangs in shame. I could not protect the integrity of my nation. I am no one still I am everyone ..and I am a failure today,” Kangana shared.

When a user pointed out an account, saying: “An instagram account of bollywood PR @instantbolly with more than 6 million followers has been running their propoganda since a long time, it needs to be reported”, Kangana slammed the industry.

“This is the gandagi for bollywood needs to be cleaned immediately. Slyly hiding behind the garb of entertainment and provoking terrorism and violence, put them in jail if there is even an iota of law n order left in this country these termites are eating away the bones of Bharat,” she said.

One user slammed singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh for supporting the farmers.

To this, Kangana reacted: “The problem is we still think we need to enlighten them about what they supporting as if it will transform him. Of course they know what they doing. Danke ki chot pe they hoisted Khalistan flag on Red Fort, truth is it’s jungle Raj jiski lathi uski bhains and they had the lathi.”

When one user said: “Kangna was right, these people aren’t farmers!! This picture is a tight sIap on @diljitdosanjh, the actress responded: “This is not a tight slap on @diljitdosanjh face this is what he wanted. He got what he wanted and this nation gave him this on a platter.”

Kangana feels the “message is clear no progress or reforms will be allowed to us, terrorism will decide the fate of this nation, not its government”.

In another tweet, Kangana urged the government to take action.

“CAA is on hold after so much terror I am sure Farmers bill will also be pushed on back burners, we as a democracy have chosen a nationalistic government yet antinationals are winning. Black day for India, please implement these laws asap and make our democracy win @PMOIndia,” she wrote.
