Not embarrassed of thrashing officer, says BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya

As soon as BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya came out of the prison, supporters welcomed him by putting up posters with “SALUTE AKASH JI” written at the bottom of them and firing celebratory gunshots in the air while dancing in front of BJP office in Indore.Such is the attitude of BJP leaders when they are in power but still they are voted to power.

Additional Sessions Judge Suresh Singh had yesterday granted bail to Akash, the son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, in two cases — assaulting a civic official and staging a protest without prior permission.

As soon as Akash stepped out of the jail, he was welcomed with garlands and laddoos by his family members and supporters.

“Jail mein achha laga,” added the BJP MLA.

The lawyers of Akash had yesterday argued in the court that the Supreme Court has ruled that the offences which do not invite more than seven-year imprisonment were bailable. They further alleged that their client was falsely implicated in the case with an intention to sully his image.

District prosecution officer Rajendra Upadhyaya opposed the bail plea, contending that the BJP MLA’s act was premeditated and was unbecoming of a lawmaker. “Bail to him will send a wrong signal to the society,” Upadhyaya argued.

The 34-year-old Akash is the first-time MLA and represents Indore-3 Assembly segment.

On Wednesday, he was caught on TV cameras thrashing municipal officer Dhirendra Singh Bais with a cricket bat while opposing the demolition of a rickety building.
