A Parliamentary Panel has suggested that this is not the right time to privatise the Air India. The Panel has also said that the government-owned enterprise should be given 5 years more to revive itself.
The Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture also concluded that equity infusion in Air India for its privatisation was made on “piece meal basis”.
The Parliamentary committee heared all stakeholder and concluded that at point of time when Air India is performing better and earning profits from its operations, it would not be a good idea to disinvest from the public enterprise.
The government had in June 2016 given its accent to Air India privatisation.
