No ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ Holiday in Rajasthan Universities as per New Holiday Calendar

Jaipur, August 12: In a fresh development, October 2 will not be observed as a holiday in the Rajasthan Universities as per the new Holiday Calendar.

According to a new calendar released by Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, all the state universities will be getting a total of 24 holidays in the academic year 2017-18.

The state universities will observe holidays on Moharram and Diwali in October. Apart of these Holidays, the birth anniversaries of Ramdev (folk deity of Rajasthan), Guru Nanak, BR Ambedkar, Lord Mahavira and Maharana Pratap will also be observed.

Some universities have accepted the new calendar norms while the other universities are yet to take a decision on it. The calendar was issued to 12 state universities.

N Radhakrishnan who is the chairman of Indian Council for Gandhian Studies has been spearheading a movement to not observe on birth and death anniversary of Gandhi.
