New Delhi, Oct 25: An NGO on Thursday approached the Supreme Court against the removal of Alok Verma as CBI Director and giving the charge to Joint Director M. Nagesawar Rao.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Sanjay Krishan Kaul and K.M. Joseph stated “we will see” as senior advocate Prashant Bhushan was seeking an urgent hearing as some broader issues have been raised.

The apex court has agreed to hear a fresh petition filed by advocate Prashant Bhushan seeking a SIT probe against the top CBI officials, including Special Director Rakesh Asthana.

While challenging the central government order asking Verma to proceed on leave, NGO named ‘Common Cause’ has demanded the removal of Special Director Rakesh Asthana from the probe agency.
