Naxals ambush CRPF bunker vehicle in Bijapur ,Four Jawans martyred

Bijapur, Oct 28 : Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans lost their lives  and two jawans were injured when Naxals ambushed their bunker vehicle with gunfire and IED blast in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

The jawans belonged to 168 Battalion and the attack took place when they were moving back to their base camp after conducting search operation and  encounter with Naxals . A convoy has been dispatched to provide reinforcement at the incident site.

“One ASI, one head-constable, two constables of 168 battalion lost their lives in an IED blast in Awapalli Police Station area, Bijapur. 2 injured jawans have been sent for medical treatment,” said P Sundar Raj, DIG (Anti-Naxal Operation).

The attack comes at a time when Chhattisgarh is scheduled to face elections in November and this incident shows the ill-preparedness of the state authorities to tackle Naxals. . Elections for state assembly polls are scheduled to be held in the two phases. The first phase for 18 seats in South Chhattisgarh will be held on 12th November while the second for the remaining 72 seats of North Chhattisgarh will be held on 20th November. There are total 90 constituencies.

Chief Minister Raman Singh has claimed that his government  has  a strategic plan in place to uproot Naxalism in the next five years.
