New Delhi, Nov 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the Constitution, describing that it is the only document which binds people together.

“It was not easy to make a historical document (Constitution) which binds a country which has more than a dozen sects, more than 100 languages and more than 1700 dialects & people living in places with various beliefs” the Prime Minister asserted in his address on Nation Law Day.

Hailing makers of constitution, he said “Baba Saheb said that Constitution is workable, flexible & has power to unite the nation in times of war & peace. He also said if a wrong is done, it will not be the fault of constitution but the institution which is making people abide by constitution”

“Our Constitution is as vibrant as possible, even more sensitive. Our Constitution is as accountable, competent as well”, he added.

The Prime Minister said India is a young nation, adding to strengthen it, all the constitutional bodies will have to come together and work towards it.

As members of the same family are we working together to strengthen one another, in support of each other, he asked.

“Unfortunately we have not been able to remove our internal weaknesses, so many years after independence. We need to think about it at all levels”.

“If we think that coming generations will take all risks and work, then history will not forgive us. We will have to start working now. We may or may not be there but the system which will be brought here will stay”, Modi stated.

The two-day valedictory fuction on the eve of National Law Day, which was instituted in 2015 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar was attended by Judges of Supreme Court, High Court and various courts across the country and other various other  dignitaries including CJI Dipak Misra, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and former CJIs.

‘We are indebted to farmers,’ says Rahul Gandhi, criticises government for using lathis, tear gas

On Monday, Gandhi had urged common people and Congress workers to extend help and support to the farmers.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday criticised the government’s approach towards handling the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three newly-passed agriculture laws.

“Our providers are protesting on streets and those who lie are giving speeches on the TV,” Gandhi tweeted in Hindi. “We are indebted to the farmers. We can only repay by giving them their rights, not by insulting them or using lathis and tear gas against them.”

On Monday too, Gandhi had released a video message urging common people and Congress workers to extend help and support to the agitating farmers.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday criticised Gandhi calling him a “confused leader”.

“Rahul Gandhi is the most confused leader in the world,” Tiwari told PTI, at Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur city. “He does not know about farm laws passed recently. The farm laws that Parliament has passed recently have been accepted by all the states of the country except the Congress government of Punjab.”

The BJP leader also accused Congress and other opposition parties of provoking farmers against the new laws.

The farmers’ protest at Tikri and Singhu borders of the national Capital entered the sixth day on Tuesday. Thirty-six farmers’ unions have accepted the Centre’s invitation for early talks at 3 pm on Tuesday in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan in an attempt to find a resolution to the escalating protests.
