Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for targeting him and indulging in gutter-level politics.

Wwhile addressing a rally in Dehradun, Modi cited reports in media to suggest that the names of Gandhi “family” and Ahmed Patel had surfaced in the VVIP choppers deal case in the context of kickbacks.

Talking to reporters, Ahmed Patel said he had trust in the judicial system and was ready to be hanged, if found guilty. “But see who is talking here…PM Narendra Modi.
Everybody knows that he practises gutter-level politics. He speaks as if a village head is speaking or someone who is engaging in municipality politics in some rural area.”

“There is a proverb, ‘choron ko sab chor nazar aate hain.’ There is a judicial system…This is just a ‘Jumla‘ shower in the poll season,” added Patel.

A day after it was revealed that a charge-sheet in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case against Christian Michel names senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, the alleged middleman told a Delhi court that he had not named anyone in his questioning by the Enforcement Directorate.

Christian Michel alleged the charge-sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday was leaked to the media even before the court took note of it and before a copy was served to the accused.

“Michel has not named anyone in his statement before the agency which is being leaked to media. This is only to make the matter sensational and prejudice the case against my client,” his counsel, Aljo K Joseph said.

The senior Congress leader took to Twitter and said that “baseless and laughable” allegations and “Jumlas” are raining this poll season.
