Guess who else wants to be a player in the great election plethora of Uttar Pradesh!! He is none other than Narayan Sai who had finally announced his arrival in the upcoming elections from some crucial seats of east and central UP.

State vice president of Ojaswi party, Satish Singh claimed that “Our party will contest elections from 150 seats in Uttar Pradesh and in the same contest we had released our first list of 19 seats today.”

He also stated that Ojawsi party will contest in Punjab elections also and they will use “tent” as a symbol in Up while “flute” in Punjab. “As of now, 18 candidates will contest from 19 seats of Uttar Pradesh and Narayan Sai ji will contest from two seats which are Sahibabad and Shivpur.” He added.

Only two of the office bearers did a press conference at Varanasi today and announced about Narayan’s political desires and his choice for one of the seat of Varanasi. Although the list comprised of maximum names of upper caste Brahmins and Rajputs and most of them were from East and Central Uttar Pradesh.

Is it a calculated step?

Self-styled god-man Asaram’s son Narayan Sai, who is currently jailed in a rape case, had moved a request on Thursday for a temporary bail in order to contest in UP assembly elections beginning next month. Sai had moved an application before Additional Sessions Judge PS Gadhvi at Surat, and stated that he is willing to contest from two seats which are Sahibabad in Ghaziabad district and Shivpur in Varanasi district respectively.

He had also stated in his relief petition that he is one of the founders of the Ojaswi party and he wants to field the candidates from the same party and for that he needs to be out of jail to look after the poll preparations. The court had kept the matter for hearing on January 21st.

senior Journalist Amitabha Bhattacharya from Varanasi believes that “People like Narayan sai are political tourists and like all similar ones he looks like a dummy fielded by any other political party to scratch the base of upper caste votes. I have seen his list and had found that the list comprises maximum names from upper caste communities, we will have to wait and watch his final list and in case he fields more upper caste people then i am sure he is here to help someone.”

Narayan’s dark past-

Narayan  Sai was arrested for allegedly raping a Surat-based woman disciple of his father Asaram Bapu between 2002 and 2005. Six persons along with Sai were charged under sections of Indian Penal Code for rape, unnatural sex, molestation, wrongful confinement, unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.

The woman had accused Sai of repeated sexual assault when she was living at Asaram’s ashram in Surat. Her elder sister had also made similar allegation against Sai’s father Asaram Bapu while she was living at an ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad between 1997 and 2006.

Narayan sai was arrested near the Delhi-Haryana border in December 2013 after evading law for two months following registration of the case against him. He has been lodged at Lajpore Central Jail in Surat since December 2013. While his father Asaram is also facing trial in rape cases and lodged in a jail at Jodhpur.

He established Ojaswi party in November 2013 after his father’s name was mentioned by the accused. Sai was also interested to field candidates for Delhi elections 2014. His desires for contesting in UP elections are open over floor and political pundits are expecting some new drama out of all this.
