Nagpur: Man thrashed for allegedly carrying beef, 4 detained

Nagpur, July 13, 2017: A man was beaten up for allegedly carrying beef by a four-member gang in Bharsingi area of Nagpur city in Maharashtra on Wednesday.

A case has been registered by Nagpur police and four people have been detained for interrogation in connection with the case.

The police said Salim Ismail Shah was travelling in his two-wheeler when the accused stopped him and alleged that he was carrying beef. Shah kept on saying the meat was not beef but they refused to hear him out and thrashed him with rods and sticks.

A video has also gone viral in which the whole incident can be observed.

According to sources, the four accused belong to the Prahar Sangathana. An officer said that all four of them have been arrested.

“We had received the complaint yesterday. We have arrested four people. We are still investigating the issue,” DCP Shailesh Balkawde said.
