Muzaffarpur hit and run case: Manoj Baitha, accused of mowing down 9 kids, surrenders


Patna, Feb 28: A suspended BJP leader Manoj Baitha, accused of mowing down nine children in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur and going on the run, surrendered before the police on Wednesday morning.

Baitha was suspended from BJP party’s membership for six years because of his involvement in the accident.

He is the owner of the SUV that ran over nine children and injured around 20 near a government school at Dharampur village in Muzaffarpur on February 24.

Soon after the accident, the Opposition started cornering Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was the first, who alleged that the vehicle involved in the Muzaffarpur accident belonged to a BJP man and the driver was intoxicated.

The state has announced Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased children.
