Muzaffarpur case: Manju Verma’s husband, Chandrashekhar Verma surrenders before court

Patna, Oct 29: Chandrashekhar Verma, the husband of former Bihar minister Manju Verma, surrenders before District Court Manjhaul in connection with Muzaffarpur shelter home case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had registered a case against Vermas in August at Cheria Bariarpur police station of Begusarai district after the probe agency seized about 50 cartridges from their residence during searches.

Manju Verma resigned on August 8 following allegations that her husband has links with the main accused of Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case, Brajesh Thakur.

Arrested on June 2, Thakur is currently lodged in the Muzaffarpur jail.

Of the 42 girls lodged at the residential hostel run by Thakur’s NGO, 34 were found to have been sexually assaulted. The incident came to light after a social audit by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

Since then, the shelter home has been sealed.
