Muzaffarpur Case: Chargesheet filed against Manju Verma, Chandrashekhar Verma

Patna, Dec 20: Bihar police on Thursday filed a charge sheet filed against former state minister Manju Verma her husband Chandrashekhar Verma in the Arms Act case. 

Manju Verma had surrendered before the Begusarai Court on November 20. The development took place days after, the Bihar Police attached her property.

The Janata Dal-United leader was suspended from the party on November 15.

In August, the Central Bureau of Investigation had filed a case against Manju Verma and her husband Chandrashekhar at Cheria Bariarpur police station after the probe agency recovered about 50 cartridges from their residence during searches, which were a part of  Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case.

Though, Chandrashekhar Verma, surrendered before District Court Manjhaul on October 29.

Manju Verma had stepped down as Bihar minister of Social Welfare on August 8 following allegations that her husband has links with the prime accused of Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case, Brajesh Thakur.

Out of 42 girls lodged at the residential hostel run by Thakur’s NGO, 34 were found to have been sexually assaulted. The incident came to light after a social audit by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
