Assam, April 9 : A Muslim man was brutally beaten up by a mob and forced to eat pork for allegedly selling beef in Assam’s Biswanath district. The incident took place on April 7 in Assam’s Biswanath Chariali.
But the police came to know about the incident after a video went viral in which a mob was seen threatening the man. The man who is on his knees was begging to let him go.
The mob asked him if he had license to sell beef and whether he was from Bangladesh.
“Are you Bangladeshi? Is your name in the NRC (National Register of Citizens)?” someone in the mob can be heard asking him.
The man identified as Shaukat Ali was forced to eat pork.
The police has filed an FIR and is investigating the matter.
The most important aspect of this incident points to NRC, which the BJP said it would implement NRC in a phased manner across the country if it returns to power.
