Mumbai Rains : Four injured in Goregaon landslide

Mumbai, Aug 4 : Four persons have been injured in a landslide at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Goregaon East in Mumbai. The injured have been shifted to hospital. Water logging is being witnessed in various parts of Mumbai following incessant rainfall.

Central Railways has issued a statement on twitter , ” Services on all four lines between Sion and Kurla suspended from 7.20 am due to water logging and heavy rains. Due to very very intense rainfall throughout, there is accumulation of water in different sections of Central Railway Suburban section of Mumbai. We are reviewing situation every 30 minutes. “

400 people were shifted to the Bazarwad Municipal school from Kranti Nagar in Mumbai as water in the Mithi river rose to dangerous levels.

Heavy downpour has wreaked havoc in Maharashtra leaving a few people dead and hundreds stranded yesterday while several rivers were in spate . NDRF has deployed eight teams in Maharashtra to rescue people.

The IMD predicted very heavy rains for the next 48 hours in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places.

The BMC issued an advisory asking Mumbaikars not to venture into sea or in water-logged areas. The situation not only worsened in Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Navi Mumbai.
