Mumbai-Howrah Mail derails in Maharashtra, 12 trains cancelled

Nagpur, June 10 : Three coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail train derailed near Igatpuri in Maharashtra in the wee hours  of Sunday, railway officials said.

No passenger has been injured in the accident.However, 12 trains on the route have been cancelled while one has been terminated following the repairing works.

Central Railway Ministry spokesperson Sunil Udasi said: “Three coaches — S-12, S-13, pantry car — of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail derailed just before entering platform two at 2.05 a.m.”

The incident took place near Igatpuri railway station in the district.

The cause for the derailment has not been ascertained yet

“The train with eight coaches that were not affected in the accident left at 3.45 a.m.,” Udasi added

Heavy rains lashed parts of Maharashtra on Saturday leading to incidents of waterlogging in many areas. Many flights were diverted from the Mumbai airport due to bad weather.
