Mumbai Fire: ESIC Kamgar Hospital staff protests alleging inadequate facilities

Mumbai, Dec 18: The staff of ESIC Kamgar Hospital on Tuesday staged a protest alleging inadequate facilities in the hospital. 

This comes a day after eight people lost their lives in a fire that broke out in the hospital.

The overnight toll in a Mumbai government hospital blaze reached to eight with two more victims succumbing to their injuries on Tuesday.

Of the 176 rescued injured, at least another 25 admitted to various hospitals and are said to be remain critical from the devastating fire broke out in the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in MIDC, Andheri East on Monday evening.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Control officials, 142 continue their treatment in over half a dozen public and private hospitals, 26 have been discharged so far.

A majority of deceased died due to suffocation, and one panicked and reportedly jumped from the third floor to his death.
