Mulayam backs brother, Shivpal to stay UP SP chief

New Delhi, Sep 15, 2016: The furious feud within Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Samajwadi Party remained unsolved even after 2 days, As Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday said his younger brother Shivpal Yadav will remain the UP party president.

On the contrary, SP leader Shivpal today said that he will not challenge UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to strip him of all key portfolios in the state cabinet.

Shivpal said at a press briefing that “Allocation of portfolios is a CM’s prerogative, won’t challenge his decision,” adding that “Everybody in the party cannot have the same ideology.”

Elections are around the corner. It’s best for the family and everyone else to stay united,” he added.

On the other hand, Mulayam Singh told the media here that Shivpal Yadav was a grass-roots leader and a happy-go-lucky person who was “not perturbed by incidents”.

Earlier in the day, SP national general secretary and Mulayam’s cousin Ramgopal Yadav said the leadership had committed a “mistake” by removing Akhilesh Yadav as party’s UP president.
