Lucknow, Aug 5 : The iconic Mughalsarai Junction has been formally renamed after RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Uphadyay at a function that was attended by the BJP chief Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The leaders flagged off a passenger train and a goods train with an all-woman crew and also launched a “smart yard” project at the century-old station on the busy Delhi-Howrah route.
The building has been touched up with saffron paint at places and signboards with the new name has been put up.
The leaders also launched a project to upgrade the yard at the station, officials said.
RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was found dead in mysterious circumstances near the Mughalsarai station in February 1968.
